SLO 1 Artifact: Major

This artifact is Samantha’s final project for the play: Stop/Kiss by Diana Son. It includes a hand drawn theater poster along with a press release for the Pasadena City College production. In this assignment, we were asked to use our critical and visual skills to showcase the themes of the play, but most importantly, how bear witnessing was used for public engagement. This project connects to the Student Learning Outcomes because it focuses on analyzing text through symbols, themes, and real-world problems, and because my poster, along with my press release, showcases the love, consequences, and dangers it holds. Although some may say it’s not obvious to the naked eye, I used symbolic imagery such as the stop and exit sign to showcase hesitation, the background to represent how secret love can feel exciting, and the buildings to showcase the danger that comes for Sara. Most importantly, I came up with the idea on my own and drew it by hand, choosing the colors, texts, fonts, and placements purposely to showcase how love can be dangerous. I also created a press release to give the audience a clearer explanation of what the play will be about. By completing both extra credits and the assignment, my creativity, perseverance, and working ethic were shown to the fullest potential.
